Day Trips
If you have one day in the area:
Start your day with a ride around Wolfeboro on Molly the Trolley and enjoy a narrated tour. Disembark at the Chamber of Commerce and head behind the building to take a saunter down the Bridge Falls Path to Albee Beach. You can stop at the Wright Museum on the way since the path crosses Route 109 at the museum. Come back to town and have lunch at Lydia's Cafe, the Dockside Grille or Full Belli Deli. Peruse the shops and visit the galleries (art, pottery, pewter, jewelry, etc.) that are scattered through town. If you have time, stop by the Libby or Boat Museums, located right off the path. Dinner at Garwood's is the perfect ending to the day.
If you have two days in the area, add the following:
Start your day with a drive around the lake. Take Route 109 North through Moultonborough (stopping at the Old Country store), Center Harbor, Laconia and Meredith. In Meredith be sure to stop at Mame's Restaurant for a fantastic and filling lunch before getting back on Route 11. Stop at the Mount Major State Forest Parking area and hike up to the top of Mount Major for breathtaking views of the lake and surrounding area. Once you are back in Wolfeboro, stop into Mis En Place for a fabulous dinner.
If you have three days in the area, add the following:
Spend the day in the White Mountains. From the Inn drive South on Main Street and turn left onto Route 28/109. After approximately 10 miles you will deadend into Route 16. Turn left (north) and drive approximately 15 miles to Conway where you will turn left onto Route 112/Kancamagus Highway for a scenic tour of the mountains. At the end of the Highway turn right/north on Route 3. You can see where the Old Man of the Mountain was, visit the Flume Gorge, Franconia Notch State Park, Follow Route 3/302 east through Crawford Notch deadending at Route 16 in Glen. Head South and visit the shops and sights of North Conway. There are numerous restaurants and snack shops from which to choose. There are so many, in fact, you may wish to stay for dinner also.
If you have four days in the area, add the following:
Start the day with a speedboat ride on the Millie B. It only takes 30 minutes and is worth the trip. Then get in your car and head to the coast either on Route 109 which takes you to Wells and Ogonquit, Maine or Route 11 to Route 16 which takes you to Portsmouth, NH where you can visit the Strawberry Banke Museum and then head south to Odiorne Point State Park which houses the Seacoast Science Center. There are a myriad of beaches at which to stop.
If it's a rainy day, consider visiting the Wright, Boat or Libby Museums, the Klickety Klack Railroad, the Moultonborough Country Store, the League Craft Shops, the Pewter Factory or Castle in the Clouds. There's always something to do!
